Alfred Nwanze, a Nigerian based in Atlanta, Georgia in the United States of America was in Nigeria for the funeral rites of his late father, Diokpa Patrick Nwaokonkwo Nwanze who passed on at the age of 96 years.
Alfred and his siblings, Ben Nwanze, Mrs. Rachel Okonjo, Dr. Anselm Nwanze of the Medical Department at NIMASA and Carol Nwanze laid their father to rest in an elaborate 3 day ceremony in October 2011 in Ibusa, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State of Nigeria
Chief George Nwanze, a retired civil servant and a member of the FESTAC ’77 Organising Committee was also in Ibusa to honour his late older brother, Diokpa Patrick. Mr. P.O. Chigbue a consultant with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture on Fisheries and Marine Research also participated in the ceremony.
The Outing and Thanksgiving Mass took place at the St. Monica Catholic Church, Ibusa. Friends and well wishers travelled from far distances to pay their last respect to Pa Nwanze.
