THE NIGERIAN AIR FORCE GAMES 2011

The 7th edition of the Nigerian Air Force Games took place between the 29th of October and 4th of November 2011 at the U. J. Esuene Stadium in Calabar, the capital of Cross River State of Nigeria.

The games tagged, Calabar/Uyo 2011 was also in preparations for the Nigerian Armed Forces Games 2012. The event attracted a huge turn out of the Calabar populace aside from the various staff, commands, sportsmen and women within and outside of the Nigerian Air force.

The Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Olusegun Petinrin represented President Goodluck Jonathan at the event which had in attendance, the Chief of Air staff, Air Marshal M D Umar, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Ihejirika, the Chief of Naval Staff, the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on the Nigerian Air Force, Honourable Kenneth Achibong and the Cross River State Governor, Liyel Imoke who was represented by the State Commissioner for Sports.
The Nigerian Air Force Air Rank Officers at the event include, Air-Vice Marshal AS Badeh, Air-Vice Marshal Eko Osim, Air-Vice Marshal I Umar, Air-Vice Marshal Adeshola, Air-Vice Marshal Arariode, Air-Vice Marshal Onyemaobi, the newly promoted Air Commodore Ojuawo and other Air Rank officers were present.


The events contested for at the games included, Football, Invitational Relay Race, Arm Race, 100meters Race, Tug of War, Air Force Officers Wives Race, Air Rank Officers Race.
Team HQ NAF won the converted most prestigious trophy for the competition as well as the Gold Medal in football.

The team defeated Team Training Command which won the Silver Medal by 2-1 goals.






The wife of the Chief of Air Staff, Hajia Umar led the team of the Nigerian Air Force Officers Wives Association to the Calabar games.
