THE 2nd CALABAR DIASPORA CONFERENCE 2011 OPENS

THE 2ND Edition of the Calabar Diaspora Conference takes place from 17th to the 21st of October 2011 at the TRANSCORP METROPOLITAN HOTELS. It is organised by the Cross River State Government and co-ordinated by the Office of DIASPORA MATTER in the Governor’s Office.
Governor Liyel  Imoke  will declare the conference open in a grand style. The 1st edition took place in 2010.The Calabar Diaspora Conference was introduced after the Nigerians In Diaspora,NIDO conference that takes place annually in Nigeria.


The NIDO conference has also taken place in the Cross River State capital .
In a telephone chat with Unique International Magazine, the Special Assistant To The Governor Of The State On Diaspora Matters, Ben Ikpeme said all necessary arrangements have been made to make the conference a success in order to achieve it’s aims and objectives. He hinted that a lot of Nigerian Diasporas from different parts of the world are expected to attend.

Mr. Ikpeme stated that the Calabar Diaspora Conference is no longer on the drawing board but in the full implementation stage and that state government is very interested in Nigerians In Diaspora matter and also advised other state governments to emulate the state.

The Cross River State Government is the first in the federation to open a special office on Diaspora matters.
